The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon ----- It is the deepest and probably largest canyon in the world, formed by a unique right-angle turn in the Yarlung Zangbo River where it flows around Namcha Barwa. The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is the only water channel from the Indian Ocean to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, just like a water pipe to transport water into the Plateau, with which the southeastern of the Plateau become the highest green land on earth. Stretching 496.3 kilometers, the canyon is 2,268 meters deep on average, with the deepest point being 5,382 meters and lowest point only 155 meters. For the Yarlung Zangbo River, its annual average water flow of 1,000 cubic meters per second and its velocity of 18 meters per second. The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is also the largest water channel in Tibetean Plateau. Owing to the affection of the warm and damp air stream, the precipitation of the southern part of the canyon is 4000 mm per year and the northern part 1500-2000m. The whole area is rather moisture with gloomy forest, so it has the most abundant species. The most special part of the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is its location. It sits at the end of the eastern Himalayas ranges and runs from east to west and then suddenly turns south and finally runs down along the south slope of the eastern Himalayas ranges into the Indian Ocean, which make a most peculiar large bend in the world just like a horse hoof.

Medog --- It is the last county via which the Yarlung Zangbo River flows into India from China. Medog is the only county that has no highway to connect with other places in China and is the most remote county in the southeast part of Tibet. Because of the bad environment and frequent disaster in the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, Medog is the isolated island on the Plateau and a paradise far away from modern society. It is know as a mysterious place by tourists and "a sacred place with a hidden engraved lotus flower" by Buddhists.

Namcha Barwa(N 29°6′, 95°E)--- Known as the fifteen highest peak in the world over 7782m, Namcha Barwa is located at the inner side of Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. Namcha Barwa means "snow and lightning burn together like fire" and in the Tibetan language, Namcha Barwa literally means 'burning thunders'. Mt. Namcha Barwa was described as a 'spear pierced into the sky'. It is venerated as one of the residences of gods, rich in myths and legends.

Gyala Peri --- It is the smaller sister peak to Namcha Barwa, the two peaks are the easternmost 7000 metre peaks in the Himalaya range. The height of this peak is also sometimes listed as 7150 m. Though not one of the highest peaks in the Himalaya, Gyala Peri has great vertical relief above local terrain, particularly above the deep valley of the Tsangpo gorge.
