Long long ago, the northern Tibetan grassland has such a popular saying: beyond Xiyaer and Eyaer in the west and Gaer, Maer, Zhanmula in the east, there is no name for the places and no difference for the poor and the rich.So far, that place still keeps its mystery. If you come into there, you will find out its true face. That is a living and mysterious world.
ChangThang--- It is also called the northern Tibetan Grassland, however its name has a Tibetan meaning with more imagination. ChangThang literally means "Norten Plain", with an area of 600,000 square kilometers, occupying the half of total area of Tibet. In this incredible plain, mysterious dreams are abounding over several thousands. At present, it is an important national policy to protect the scarce species including birds in ChangThang Grassland. In 1993, ChangThang has been sanctioned as a Natural Preservation Zone by the Tibet Autonomous Region. Birds living around Namtso Lake can enjoy the free flying in "Northern Plain" the same as Tibetan antelope, wild yak, wild Tibetan donkey and other precious animals. This is not a good luck only for Wild animals in the northern Tibet but also for human civilization and Chinese people.
Tsupu Monastery --- Built at the altitude of 4300 meters, Tsupu Monastery sits at the upper Tsupu River located in the northwest of Doilungdeqen County, 70 kilometers away from Lhasa City west. Tsupu Monastery complex centers on the Great Hall, including Sutra Hall, Buddha Hall, Law Protection Hall, Buddhism School, Buddhism Institute, Residence of Living Buddha, Monks'Residence, Preaching Platform, etc. At present, there are more than 300 monks in this monastery.There are many precious cultural relics in Tsupu Monastery. One is Founding Stele of Jiangpu Temple, which sits in Great Hall with two meters and a half tall and half a meter wide carved Old Tibetan. It is an important history material of study on polity, economy and religion in Tufan Period.One is Hanging Buddham, the most valuable treasure of Tsupu Monastery, which is a silver statue made by the eighth Karmapa for his master. It is said thatthis statue had been automatically hanging in the air for seven days after being producted, so it is called Hanging Buddha.In addition to these, Tsupu Laqian, Sarira of the sixteenth Karmapa, stone carving statue of Maqia Karla, Mila Riba's bowl, Dusong Qingba's cap are also the valuable treasure of Tsupu Monastery.
Yangbajain --- When you come to Chang Thang at first time, you will feel the cold and lonely. However, once you enter the inside, the grassland will become warm just like a home. This is a feeling Yangbajain can give you. In the Tibetan language,Chang Thang literally means "Northern Grassland". Yangbajain contains rich geothermal resources and is famous as a geothermal museum.
Geothermal heat, spewing out from the inside of the earth, is a presious treasure for human being. This is a place with more than 40 square kilometers, where the work for exploring the Geothermal resource has begun since the 1970s. Yangbajain locates Damxung County, 91.3 kilometers away from Lasha northwest. In that place, the heat field is fairly flat. At the altitude of 4300 meters, the peaks at the south and north are averaged above 5500-6000 meters. The annual average temperature of Zangbuqu River, which runs through this heat field, is 5 ℃. The local annual average temperature is 2.5 ℃ and the annual average atmospheric pressure is 0.06 Mpa.The local economy is mainly supported by livestock industry and a little by agriculture industry. Qinghai-Tibet Highway and China-India Highway pass through the east and the north of the heat field separately, so Yangbajain has a convenient transportation. At present, the heat field of Yangbajain has developed a lot. The past rough factory rooms has become a modern town, with shops,restaurants, hotels and so on. With the further western development, Yangbajain attracts the whole world again. |
